The
steps to format a flash drive are as follows:
• Wait for your computer to detect the
flash drive.
You
will see a pop-up bubble in the task bar at the bottom right of your screen to
notify you that a flash drive has been installed to your computer successfully
and is ready to use.
• Open the Start menu from the bottom-left
of your screen and click on My Computer.
• Please right click on your flash drive
that you have just installed on your computer.
It
will come in the list of ‘devices with removable storage’.
• Click on "Format" from the
pop-up menu.
This
will open the format window with window title indicating which drive you want
to format.
• You will see a window dialogue box,
indicating the capacity of your flash drive.
• Tick the box next to ‘quick format’, if
you want to check the flash drive hardware functioning properly and if not
leave it unticked.
• Let the allocation unit size remain as
the default allocation size.
• Select the file system that you want your
flash drive formatted in. The file system attributes which will come are FAT32,
NTFS, and exFAT.
• Press the Start button at the bottom of
the Format window after you have finalized your selections.
• Confirm your action by pressing the OK
button in the pop-up window.
